Kaka: I Didn’t Want To Leave Milan But I’ll Win Titles With Real Madrid
Los Blancos’ new superstar has spoken following his highly anticipated move...
9 Jun 2009 01:25:35
Kaka has finally addressed the press in Brazil following confirmation of his transfer to Real Madrid from Milan.
The 27-year-old playmaker has revealed why he and the club decided to part company, while he looked forward to the future with Los Blancos.
"My desire was to stay at Milan, but the world financial crisis has affected a lot of clubs, especially Milan," he told the media.
"As such, I spoke with the Milan board and we concluded that the best thing for everyone would be to sell me."
The playmaker is expected to take over Zinedine Zidane's famous No. 5 jersey at the Santiago Bernabeu, but he has politely declined the offer.
"Using the No. 5 would be a big responsibility," he reasoned.
"Zidane was an excellent player for both Real Madrid and the French national team, and I would not like to use the same number as him. But let's wait a little longer before we decide.
"The challenge with Madrid is fascinating. Together we will win many titles," he trumpeted confidently.

Milan Very Close To Signing Edin Dzeko - Report
Sky Italia claims that the Rossoneri are "very close" to completing the signature of the Wolfsburg sensation...

With Kaka almost certain to complete his move to Real Madrid tonight, Milan are already moving to replace the Brazilian, as Sky Italia claims that a deal to sign Wolfsburg star Edin Dzeko is "very close" to being formalised.
The Bosnian had a sensational 2008/09 campaign, scoring 32 goals in all competitions, and leading Wolfsburg to the Bundesliga title.
The 23-year-old has since been linked to a host of top clubs, and his agent Irfan Redzepagic admitted earlier today that his client would be tempted by a move to either Milan or Arsenal.
However, it seems as if the Rossoneri may have won the race to sign the hitman. Sky Italia claims that Milan Vice President Adriano Galliani and director Ariedo Braida met with the player's father in Sarajevo on Saturday to broker the move.
There is no official word on the topic as of yet, but if confirmed, this transfer would surely help appease Milan fans angry

AC Milan
THE CLUB
Address Via Filippo Turati, 3 - 20121, Milan
Telephone 0039 02-62281
Website www.acmilan.com
Since moving into Milan (always Milan - never call them AC) in 1986, owner Silvio Berlusconi has reinstated the club as one of Europe's leading lights, with no fewer than five European Cups heading to San Siro in that time.
The best years of the Diavoli [Devils] were behind them, the iconic Gianni Rivera winning his last scudetto in 1979. A match-fixing scandal and ill-advised foreign signings then saw Milan drop down to Serie B and they had only just returned when Berlusconi took the club by the horns.
Berlusconi built Italy's finest training centre, hired Parma coach Arrigo Sacchi and paid for Dutch stars Ruud Gullit, Marco van Basten and Frank Rijkaard. With Franco Baresi imperious at the back and Paolo Maldini always overlapping, Milan were awesome as Sacchi's pressing game forced the opposition into their own half.
Streets ahead of their rivals on and off the pitch, the savvy Milan won a brace of European Cups. Under Fabio Capello, Milan won the league without losing a match and added another European Cup in 1994 with a near-perfect display in the 4-0 win over Johan Cruyff's Barcelona in the final.
Milan were kings of Europe again in 2003, but three years later echoes of the dark days of the past haunted them, as once again they became embroiled in a match-fixing debacle. Charged with influencing referees, Milan were disqualified from the Champions League and deducted 15 points; on appeal the sentence was reduced to an eight-point deduction and the club was allowed back into Europe's elite competition, albeit through the qualifiers.
Milan took full advantage of that re-instatement by going all the way to the final in Athens, where they gained ample revenge over a Liverpool side that had pipped them in a pulsating Champions League final in Istanbul two years previously. On that occasion, Milan had let slip a 3-0 half-time lead to throw the cup away, but there was to be no repeat in the Greek capital as two goals from Pippo Inzaghi handed the cup to the rossoneri (red and black) for the seventh time.
Stalwart defender Maldini remains, and under the management of Carlo Ancelotti, it is this same stylish pursuit of excellence in Italy's fashion capital that brings hundreds of foreign visitors to the San Siro every other Sunday. Whether it's to see a flick from Kaka, a crunching tackle from Gattuso or a free-kick from Andrea Pirlo, the football is of the highest calibre.
As for the local fans, before Berlusconi they were, by tradition, left-wing and working-class. In the lions' den of the San Siro's Curva Sud, they create cloud upon cloud of red smoke, with little real threat behind them. Games with Inter aside...
THE STADIUM
Still known as the San Siro despite being named after one of the few players admired by both sets of fans, the 86,000-capacity Guiseppe Meazza is accessed by buses from the Lotto M1 metro station, 15 minutes from downtown Duomo. Buses stop by the Bar Stadio and the Biglietteria Nord, one of two main ticket offices. Tickets are colour-coded: pricier red and orange along the touchlines, blue for Milan's Curva Sud, green for Inter's Curva Nord.

Inter Defender Ivan Cordoba - AC Milan Will Miss Kaka
The Colombian international has suggested that the Rossoneri made the wrong move by selling the Brazilian superstar...
28 Jun 2009 22:26:48
Inter defender Ivan Cordoba has criticised AC Milan for selling Kaka to Real Madrid for a reported €65 million. The veteran centre-back thinks that without Kaka, their city-rivals will struggle next season.
"Milan will miss Kaka. We will see how the Rossoneri react to his departure," he was quoted as saying by Yahoo! Eurosport. "Sure, the sensation is like Milan will be missing half a team."According to Rossoneri vice-president Adriano Galliani, the sale of the former Ballon d'Or winner was needed to cover the club's massive debt and balance the books.
Kaka was an integral part of the Rossoneri squad for six years, contributing to a Scudetto victory in 2004 and Champions League triumph in 2007.
He most recently contributed to Brazil's victorious Confederations Cup campaign as they won 3-2 over the United States in the final on Sunday evening.[/quote]

Onyewu moves to Milan
AC Milan have signed American defender Oguchi Onyewu on a free transfer from Standard Liege.
The USA international has penned a three-year contract with the Rossoneri.
A statement from the club read: "AC Milan announces the signing on a permanent deal of defender Oguchi Onyewu from Standard Liege. The player has signed a contract with AC Milan through 30 June 2012."
The 27-year-old, whose Liege contract was ending this summer, made a big contribution to Standard winning the Belgian League title last season. Onyewu, who played on loan at Newcastle in the 2007/08 campaign, is Milan's first summer signing.
The Washington-born centre-back recently helped the USA finish second at the FIFA Confederations Cup in South Africa

Inter benar-benar diuji apabila Julio Cesar terpaksa bekerja keras menjaga gawangnya.
''Perlawanan ini adalah pra musim. Ia tidak sepatutnya menjadi penilaian keseluruhannya,'' ujar Onyewu.
Milan kelmarin beraksi tanpa Clarence Seedorf yang cedera, Filippo Inzaghi dan kedua-dua penjaga gol utamanya.
Jurulatih Milan, Leonardo juga menyifatkan jadual perlawanan yang padat menyebabkan pemainnya gagal memberikan persembahan terbaik.
''Saya berdepan dengan masalah kecederaan pemain. Bukan mudah menguruskannya apatah bermain setiap hari amat mustahil,'' kata Leonardo. - AP
