MILAN - Inter Milan berjaya mempertahankan kejuaraan Serie A dengan baki tiga lagi perlawanan musim ini apabila pencabar terdekat, AC Milan kalah 1-2 kepada Udinese kelmarin.

Kejayaan Inter - di bawah penampilan pertama bekas pengurus Chelsea, Jose Mourinho di Itali itu - merupakan gelaran keempat berturut-turut dan juga yang ke-17 keseluruhan buat mereka.

Juara bertahan itu kini selesa tujuh mata di persada liga dengan baki tiga lagi permainan manakala Milan pula hanya berbaki dua perlawanan.

Peminat mula berhimpun di pusat bandar Milan, Piazza Duomo untuk meraikan kejayaan mereka manakala televisyen pula menunjukkan pemain Inter turut menari merayakan kemenangan mereka.

Mourinho kini telah memenangi gelaran liga bersama tiga pasukan iaitu Porto, Chelsea dan Inter.

"Saya agak marah kerana pasukan ini sepatutnya tidur tetapi mereka buat keputusan menaiki bas dan pergi ke Milan. Tetapi saya faham keinginan mereka untuk meraikannya," kata Mourinho.

"Bagi saya, ini masih belum lagi simbol kejayaan Inter. Masih ada beberapa perkara lagi yang perlu diperbaiki dan kami akan cuba dan lakukannya lagi tahun depan."

Kekalahan Milan kelmarin juga memberi satu lagi sebab kepada presiden Inter, Massimo Moratti bergembira pada parti sambutan hari jadinya yang ke-64 tahun.

"Ini kali pertama saya menyambut hari jadi saya dengan memenangi gelaran Scudetto. Mereka memberi saya hadiah yang paling istimewa," kata Moratti.

"Dia (Mourinho) adalah satu-satunya jurulatih asing di Itali tetapi berjaya menjalankan tugas dengan baik pada penampilan pertama di sini," tambah Moratti. - Reuters

OFFICIAL: Diego Milito & Thiago Motta Join Inter, Sergio Floccari To Genoa

Genoa President Enrico Preziosi has confirmed the deal...


Genoa president Enrico Preziosi has announced that Inter have signed star duo Diego Milito and Thiago Motta, in exchange for cash plus Robert Acquafresca.

The owner has also revealed that the Rossoblu have replaced Milito by purchasing Atalanta's Sergio Floccari.

Inter have been chasing Milito and Motta for some time now, and although the exact financial terms have not been disclosed, Preziosi has confirmed that the transfer is complete.

"I met [Inter] President Massimo Moratti for breakfast, and we have reached an agreement," Preziosi revealed while a guest on the programme 'We are Genoa' on TeleNord.

"It is official. It was a painful decision, and we thank the players for everything they have given this year.

"What do we get in return? It is economic and technical, but I say only the name of [Robert] Acquafresca."

It is not clear yet whether Acquafresca will join Genoa permanently, or on a co-ownership arrangement. One player who will arrive in full is Atalanta sensation Sergio Floccari, who will be Milito's direct replacement.

"He is no longer a boy, and he is going to give us so much joy," Preziosi said of Floccari's purchase.

"We have been following him since February. To have a strong Genoa we must suffer more than others, this is why we did this exchange.

"If we sell a great player, it is not right to just put the money in our pockets."

Floccari is expected to cost €11 million. Meanwhile, Milito is believed to have signed a four-year contract at Inter worth €3.5m per annum, and Motta a five-year deal worth €3m a season

'The Special One' leaves just a little room for error concerning his future with the Nerazzurri, as he continues to be allegedly be pursued by Real Madrid...

Inter boss Jose Mourinho recently secured the Scudetto in his first attempt in Serie A and Real Madrid presidential candidate Florentino Perez has his eye on the Portuguese tactician.

The ex-Chelsea coach has not endeared himself to many of his coaching colleagues or the press in Italy with some of his statements and some have suggested he may jump at the chance to take over the La Liga giants.

Inter director Gabriele Oriali has already slammed Real Madrid for allegedly attempting to contact Mourinho directly and now the newly crowned Scudetto winner has given his own take on the situation.

"I will stay with Inter 99.9 per cent," Mourinho explained to Sky, leaving room for the extremely slight chance he could leave this summer. "Whoever coaches [Real Madrid] is lucky."

Jose Mourinho has extended his contract as manager of Serie A champions Internazionale by a year until 2012.The Portuguese, who led Inter to their fourth straight title in his first season in charge, alarmed supporters by saying he was only 99 percent certain to stay amid reported interest from Real Madrid.

"In response to the wish of the coach to continue the project started together a year ago, a wish welcomed with pleasure by the club as a sign of attachment and winning spirit,

Inter announce the extension of Jose Mourinho's contract until June 30, 2012," a club statement read.

The former Chelsea coach said on Saturday that "little things" were needed to make him stay at the San Siro.

He is keen to reinforce his squad in a bid to challenge for the Champions League next season after Inter again flopped this term when they lost to Manchester United in the first knockout round.

Genoa striker Diego Milito and midfielder Thiago Motta are poised to join Inter in the close-season transfer window and other signings may follow.
